Google aide des universités africaines
Trente-deux universités du Kenya et du Rwanda bénéficieront de logiciels fournis gratuitement par Google, a annoncé la compagnie californienne lundi.
Les étudiants, professeurs et employés de ces universités africaines auront accès ? la suite logicielle Google Apps Education Edition, qui comprend notamment un traitement de texte, un calendrier ainsi que des logiciels de messagerie instantanée et de téléphonie par Internet.
Au Rwanda, l’Université nationale, l’Institut pour l’éducation et l’Institut des sciences et technologies de Kigali (la capitale du pays) seront les premières institutions scolaires ? avoir accès ? la suite logicielle de Google, ce qui représente aux environs de 20.000 utilisateurs.
Au Kenya, les 50.000 étudiants de l’Université de Nairobi seront les premiers ? pouvoir bénéficier de Google Apps for Education, mais la suite logicielle pourra ensuite être utilisée par 150.000 étudiants provenant des autres universités du pays.
«Nous voulons que les Africains bénéficient du même accès ? nos services sur Internet que les internautes de partout dans le monde», a déclaré ? Reuters Françoise Brougher, la directrice générale des opérations d’affaires de Google, qui travaille aussi sur les projets de la compagnie pour le marché africain.
